THE TINKER TEAM

Repairing for reuse.

Our Tinker Team is a volunteer group dedicated to repairing and refurbishing household items—such as fans, microwaves, and vacuums—that have been brought to the Hub in seemingly nonfunctioning condition. The goal is extend the life of these items and provide them to nonprofit organizations like New Life Furniture Bank.

Our team has a 55% success rate of repairing items brought to the Hub!

Volunteers meet twice monthly: on the second Wednesday for evening hours and the fourth Wednesday for daytime hours. Participation is open to individuals aged 18 and older who are comfortable using or learning to use hand tools. No prior experience is necessary, making it an excellent opportunity for those interested in hands-on sustainability work. There are also opportunities to volunteer that don’t involve repair, such as cleaning and tagging.

If you have tools or equipment to donate to support the Tinker Team, the Hub is accepting items such as iFixit kits, soldering irons, multimeters, power strips, extension cords, and various hand tools. Donations can be brought to the Hub during operating hours. A full list is located at the bottom of this page.
