October 8 Luggage Sale: Buy a Suitcase to Support the Hub
In the market for a new suitcase, either for yourself or as a holiday gift for a loved one? Come shop the luggage sale at Hub headquarters on October 8 from 9AM - 1PM (while inventory lasts). Funds raised will support Hub operations, and you’ll score quality luggage at discount prices (approximately 30% of retail value). It’s a win-win!
Donated to the Hub by Monos, the high quality and durable suitcases available for purchase range from carry-on to check-in size and come in a variety of styles and colors. Check out the pricing guide for details. As a 1% for the Planet member, Monos embraces sustainability both in the design and packaging of their products and by pledging to donate at least 1% of their profits to verified non-profit organizations like the Hub that are dedicated to protecting our planet. Passing on their surplus suitcases to the Hub as an in-kind donation keeps the luggage out of the landfill and affords the Hub a chance to raise operating funds as well as pay it forward by further donating a portion of the luggage to local organizations that can put them to good use.
Before opening up the inventory to public sale, the Hub invited community social service organizations, including NewPath Child & Family Solutions, ProKids,and Necco, to take some of the luggage to support the children and families they serve.
“We were thrilled to get these lovely luggage, backpacks, and bags for our children! They can help make transitions feel more intentional and special and we appreciate Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse making them available for ProKids’ children,” said Tracy Cook, Executive Director for ProKids.
“For the young people we serve at NewPath Child & Family Solutions, safety, security, and consistency are key. The personal, beautiful, high-quality luggage donated by Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub tells our clients that they matter, they are worth investing in, and, while they may be in transition at the time, ultimately they belong and have a home. We are incredibly grateful to Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub for supporting our mission to Ignite Hope, Change Futures through their generous gift and helping our clients feel truly special as they navigate their journey to healing,” said John Parran, Chief Operating Officer.
“To most people, luggage is important because it takes you to a new place, an exciting trip you’ve looked forward to for months. Our foster children at Necco use luggage for a whole different reason. It is the carrier of the only precious belongings they currently call their own. The items they will take with them to a new home, a home that may be temporary or may be permanent. By giving our foster children the gift of picking out a nice new bag when they may not have had anything but a plastic bag prior, the Recycling & Reuse Hub has given us the opportunity to help these children protect the belongings that mean so much more than the average suitcase holds,” said Liz Baur, Licensing Specialist for Necco.
